World Series Tickets for Giant Games

A ticket to see the San Francisco Giants play in the World Series this week could cost an arm and a leg – or possibly a motorhome and a new laptop.

Chris Wells, a former San Francisco resident who now lives in Oregon, is offering to trade everything from a motorhome, van, motorcycle or boat to other items like an upright piano, an exercise bike and a collection of baseball cards and Barry Bonds bobblehead dolls.

Wells is seeking two tickets for his 16-year-old son and himself. “Will barter dental work for Giants tix,” reads another Craigslist post.

Another Giants fan is offering a brand-new Motorola Droid 2 smartphone or an Apple iPhone 3G in exchange for a ticket.

Only one Craigslist poster in the “barter” section was offering tickets to the series. A post from Monday offered tickets for Games 1 and 2 in exchange for a new Apple MacBook Pro laptop.

Some people offered tickets to San Francisco 49ers games in exchange for Giants tickets.

The Texas Rangers finally got their ticket to the World Series 2010! Next on the line is the match between Texas and NL Champion Game 2 at 7:30 PM this October 28, 2010. Game 4 is NL Champion at Texas at 8:00 PM this coming October 31, 2010. Game 5 NL Champion vs Texas at November 1, 2010 game will start at 7:30 PM. The Championship of NL Champion vs Texas will be on Game 6 this November 3, 2010 at 7:30 PM. Game 7 is the match of Texas and NL Championship this November 4, 2010 at 7:30 PM.

The tickets are a hot item for baseball fans looking to watch two evenly matched teams or cheer on their favorite squad.

The face value of standing room only tickets is $50.

If you seek tickets directly from the Giants, forget it.

“I bought my tickets from StubHub four days before the Giants made the World Series because they were fully refundable,” said Cotta. “When (Giants closer Brian) Wilson struck out (Ryan) Howard to clinch the pennant, the tickets went up $100.”

Counting StubHub’s fees, Cotta paid $598 for his ticket in the center field bleachers.
Even for those not attending the World Series, the tickets are a good item to have.

Bill Noble, of Emeryville, has two tickets for Thursday’s contest and is asking for $1,050 per ticket on the classified advertisement website Craigslist. The tickets are in the park’s Arcade section, in right field.

In order to get tickets for the Giants and Braves playoff game she wanted, Noble’s wife signed up for season tickets for 2011, he said. Those who bought season tickets for the 2011 season had a chance to buy playoff tickets before they went on sale to the public.
“We’ve been to all the playoff games,” he said.

For those looking to buy tickets online, www.stubhub.com is another popular destination. StubHub had 3,100 tickets available for the game as of press time. The tickets stop being sold two hours before the game starts, he said. Although AT&T Park in San Francisco can seat more than 40,000, many of those tickets belong to season ticket holders who bought charter seats years ago when the park was built.

City Kayak, located on the Embarcadero in San Francisco, is renting kayaks for $49 per person for the Giants games, according to a voice recording. There is one cost-free option to watch a portion of the game at AT&T: the “Knothole.”
